It’s the first Wednesday in April, which means it’s time to share and encourage. In the group, writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance.

Every month there are generous co-hosts who donate their time to keep the group on track and the encouragement flowing. This month you should hop on over and leave a comment in thanks to Jennifer Lane, L Diane Wolfe, Jenni Enzor, and Natalie Aguirre!

And there’s an optional question you can choose to answer each month. This time it’s – What fantasy character would you like to fight, go on a quest with, or have a beer/glass of wine with?

Are we about to have a super PG rated game of boop, marry, kill? I’m here for it. And as an author, of course, I’m going to add a TON more words than this easy question really calls for. Strap in and get the whiners below decks, me hearties. We’re going on a quest together. WITH GIFS.

To fight: Obviously have to go toe-to-toe with Peregrin Took from The Lord of the Rings trilogy

First, I’d stand a decent chance of our fight turning into some form of second breakfast, elevensies, luncheon, or afternoon tea. Second, it would most likely be a drinking song battle and I am absolutely down to scoff some pints and sing with a Took. His singing voice is lovely. I can’t see any downsides to this scenario. It’s a win for everyone.

To go on a quest with: gotta go with Holga Kilgore from the Dungeons and Dragons reboot movie

Holga is a badass, and I am not. We’d make perfect quest partners, just like her and Edgin the Bard in the movie. He noodles around looking cute and making plans while she does all the ass-kicking. This is the ideal arrangement for a quest. Plus, she really only cares about eating potatoes so it would be easy to secure the provisions for our quest. Check, check, and check. Count me in.

To have a glass of wine with: totally Tyrion Lannister from Game of Thrones and Jareth the Goblin King from the Labyrinth

First point, though, are we grandmas at bunco or are we trying to have some entertainment here? A glass of wine or a beer is not going to cut it. Not with these two as drinking partners. I’m pretty sure Tyrion has a “glass of wine” as a warm up for the entire bottle of it he’s going to chug later. He’s going to easily drink me under the table, but it is going to be SO MUCH FUN with all his witticisms and cutting observations getting more and more vulgar as the alcohol flows.

And this is before we’ve considered the addition to our party, who IS a party all by himself. There will be no boring wine with the Goblin King. We’ll have some sort of goblin brew. It will probably be green and smoke a lot, because of course. It will definitely be called something like “Jareth Juice”, both because the King created it himself and because he loves a good double entendre. He is very mindful of the aesthetics at all times, so we’ll be in perfectly ridiculous surroundings drinking out of chalices of dubious history and questionable ethics. He is also the definition of chaos. Aesthetic, whimsical, drunk chaos with an amusing group of friends sounds like the very best kind of fun, don’t you think?
